About
RJ Coleman is an actor, model, writer, emcee & presenter, audiobook narrator and voice-over artist.
Onstage, RJ has been a member of two resident acting ensembles and has also worked with a number of theater production companies. He appeared on the Artistic Home Theater stage as Sawyer in MIRACLE ON 34th STREET – THE RADIO PLAY, as Lou in AFTER THE FALL, Dan Burke in IN THE SHADOW OF THE GLEN, as the labor spy in WAITING FOR LEFTY, and as the lawyer Klein in STICKS AND STONES. He was a co-founder of the Artistic Home Theater and an original member of the Ensemble. He also directed Steve Kopka’s BLIND and MINUTEMAN for the theater’s annual Cut to the Chase festivals. He served as Assistant Director for the acclaimed production of THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE.
Other Chicago credits include numerous roles with the erstwhile Center Theater Ensemble (where he was an original ensemble member), including Lord Ravensbane in THE SCARECROW, Casanova in CAMINO REAL, Tyrone in ARCHY & MEHITABEL, Elmore in ABUNDANCE, Blifil in THE LUSTY AND COMICAL HISTORY OF TOM JONES, Karl in THE MARRIAGE OF BETTE AND BOO, and the Commissioner in LYSISTRATA 2411 A.D. While at Center Theater, he also served as General Manager, Production Manager and head scenic carpenter.
RJ greatly enjoyed performing in the ensemble of the Goodman Theatre’s production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL and appearing for several summer seasons with the Dorset Theatre Festival in Vermont.
Onscreen he was seen for three consecutive years on the Discovery Channel each weekday morning during the school year as the Internet Coach in DISCOVERING THE WEB, which he also both wrote and produced. Over 30,000 students around the country saw his live, half-hour presentation on Internet safety, a public service message from InternetCoach.com which RJ created. As the Internet Coach, RJ was also a frequent presenter at state, regional and national conferences and he created a variety of web content that was both educational and increased brand awareness.
He’s appeared in several independent feature-length films, as well as numerous shorts, and a series of commercials for a local auto dealer.
He’s served as an emcee for several events including the student award presentations prior to the keynote speech at the National Education Computing Conference in Chicago, for the Leadership Evanston Alumni meeting, the SA Maxwell Annual Award dinner, the midwestern Macedonian Society dinner, the Evanston Community Foundation annual dinner and others. He’s also served as a facilitator for the annual sales training for a major pharmaceutical company.
While working as an Account Executive with Live Marketing, Inc. RJ blogged regularly on a variety of topics, contributed to the agency’s annual NEW TRENDS report, and served as a project manager on creative projects of all kinds. He also worked for a year as a scriptwriter for corporate eLearning tutorials on topics ranging from appropriate workplace behavior, sexual harassment, discrimination, systems training, and records management.
RJ received an acting degree from the studio at University of IL-Urbana and hails from Park Ridge, IL.
